UAMS College of Nursing Dean Patricia Cowan, PhD, RN, championed the efforts and accomplishments made possible by the Dean’s Circle at a recent event recognizing the group of donors. “These funds are crucial to laying the foundation for major advancements in the College of Nursing and investing in our students, both present and future,” said Cowan.
In the past, funds have been used to pay for students’ attendance at conferences and lectures, to purchase needed equipment for faculty and to help publish the college’s annual magazine. Carol Brizzolara, a BSN honors student, spoke briefly about her experience and being able to attend the Southern Nursing Research Society Conference because of funding from the Dean’s Circle.
In the future, Cowan said she hopes to use the money for more student and faculty development, which could include paying for dues to professional associations, additional equipment, and attending seminars and conferences. “The Dean’s Circle and its donors provide, and will continue to provide, critical support to our college,” said Cowan. “We greatly appreciate each donor’s support of our mission.”
