The UAMS College of Nursing’s DNP program prepares individuals with graduate nursing degrees in nursing administration or APRNs (Certified Nurse Midwife, Certified Nurse Practitioner, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists, and Clinical Nurse Specialists) for leadership roles. The program is offered online as either a part-time or full-time plan of study.
Part of the diversity of the post-Master’s DNP program with Leadership Focus at UAMS is the students who work in a variety of settings throughout Arkansas and the surrounding states. Online learning allows students the flexibility to fit education into their busy schedules and at their convenience. The UAMS DNP program is an online program that can be accomplished as a full-time student (5 semesters) or part-time student (7 semesters). An on-campus two-day orientation at the beginning of the program of study provides an opportunity for interaction among students and faculty and promotes online learning skills to facilitate successful program completion. Program coursework includes “web-based classes” to introduce and/or clarify concepts throughout the program and students can choose to attend via laptop or smartphone in real-time or view the recorded sessions later. Targeting the adult learner, the curriculum is based on the DNP Essentials set forth by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing for the practice doctorate.
