Master of Nursing Science

This program leads to the Master of Nursing Science (MNSc) degree is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

Program Summary

The Master of Nursing Science program prepares nurses as advanced practice registered nurses in the role of a administrator.

What you will learn

The advanced practice registered nurse is prepared to (a) provide and manage care of individuals, families, groups, and/or communities; (b) participate in the development and implementation of health care that is accessible and responsive to the consumer; (c) use and collaborate in research; (d) develop, implement, and evaluate educational programs; and (e) provide leadership in the profession, the health care sector, and society as a whole.

Graduates are eligible to sit for certification from the following certification bodies:

  • American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN)
  • American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
  • American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE)
  • National Certification Organization (NCC)
  • Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB)

Important Note

The Nursing Administration and Case Management Master’s specialty will admit in the fall semester. The MNSc Nursing Administration and Case Management specialty application deadlines will be February 1st (for fall admission) each year. Students who choose Nursing Administration or Case Management are not eligible to complete the nurse practitioner-focused Post-BSN to DNP program.

Note: Students in the MNSc

* The last admission to the master’s Adult-Gerontology Acute Care NP specialty is Spring 2019. Thereafter the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care NP Specialty will be offered in the DNP only.

* Admission to the master’s Pediatric Nurse Practitioner-Acute Care specialty will be for spring start only.

*Post-master’s completion- Master’s degree in Nursing (and already an APRN)    Obtaining a second certification in a nurse practitioner specialty area but not another degree. A degree or certificate will not be obtained.
