The UAMS College of Nursing’s second class of students in the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program arrived on campus Thursday, Aug. 14 for orientation. The DNP degree blends clinical, organizational, economic and leadership skills to prepare nurses at the highest level to lead health care innovation and influence policy. The course is offered online. A total 19 students are enrolled, the same number of students (by coincidence) as in the inaugural class which began last fall, 2013. UAMS is the first nursing school in Arkansas to offer a DNP degree. A portion of the class is shown here with faculty and leadership from the College of Nursing. Dean Lorraine Frazier is in the back row (center) and Dr. Catherin Carithers, who heads up the DNP program, is in the middle of the photograph (red/pink top).
Two nurse practitioners from Batesville are part of the College of Nursing’s second DNP class which reported to campus on Thursday, Aug. 14 for orientation.
