The UAMS College of Nursing’s Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program received a grant of $25,000 from Chancellor Dan Rahn recently. The grant, which came from Chancellor’s Circle funds, helps underwrite DNP scholarships for the students enrolled in the inaugural class (fall, 2013). The class of 19 students had a custom-made thank you card produced and all signed it, with a personal message. This week (Monday, June 23), three of the DNP students and DNP department director Dr. Cathrin Carithers delivered the card to Chancellor Rahn. Shown here are (L to R) Mark Tanner, Cassidy Velek, Chancellor Rahn, Becky Sartini and Dr. Carithers.
The post-Master’s DNP program provides advanced skills in the delivery, management and care of patients to advanced practice nurses. It is a terminal degree for advanced practice.
