UAMS College of Nursing junior student Veronika Macon (center) is all smiles as she poses for a photograph on August 1 upon receiving her first white lab coat during the College’s White Coat Ceremony. A total 111 junior nursing students who completed their summer semester were provided the coats to symbolize their advancement into clinical course work. The event was held at Fellowship Bible Church before an audience of 300-plus, the largest crowd since the event has been hosted by the College. Veronika was not the only Macon family member on the stage that evening. Her brother Brien Macon is the College of Nursing senior class president and led the students in the Florence Nightingale Pledge. Veronika’s white coat was presented by Janet Shirley, CON Academic Coach (left), and Dr. Lana Brown, Clinical Assistant Professor (right).
