- Immunizations — UAMS requires the following immunizations prior to enrollment:
- Tetanus and Diphtheria (Td) / Tetanus – Diphthereia – Pertussis (Tdap): documentation of vaccine dose within the last ten (10) years
- Measles (Rubeola): Documentation of (1) two doses of measles vaccine, (2) two doses of MMR vaccine, or (3) positive titer showing immunity to measles
- Mumps: Documentation of (1) two doses of mumps vaccine, (2) two doses of MMR vaccine, or (3) positive mumps titer showing immunity.
- Rubella: Documentation of (1) one dose of rubella vaccine, (2) at least one dose of MMR vaccine, or (3) positive titer showing immunity to rubella
- Hepatitis B: Documentation of (1) Hepatitis B three-shot series, or (2) Hepatitis B two-shot series [Heplisav], or (3) positive Hepatitis B surface antibody IGG titer showing immunity. NOTE: Required only for those with exposure to blood or bodily fluids.
- Varicella: Documentation of (1) two doses of varicella vaccine, or (2) a varicella titer showing immunity.
- Influenza: Documentation of (1) current seasonal influenza vaccine, during flu season. Will be required for, and provided by UAMS annually for all students. An annual request for a medical or religious exemption is available.
- TB testing: Documentation of (1) a Two-Step TB skin test (Tests must be a minimum of one week apart from placements), or (2) a QuantiFERON-tb Gold Plus or T-spot blood test. The tests must be within 1 year of start date.
- Note: Students joining UAMS from a United States medical, academic, state, or federal organization may provide written documentation from that organization (must be on formal letterhead and include the name and address of the organization, contact information, dates and results of testing, and annual screening) of (a) a two-step TB testing (TST) or IGRA (preferred); and (b) ongoing annual TB medical screening for the immediate period before enrollment at UAMS.
- IF you have had a Positive TB test result, please contact Student Employee Health at (501) 686-6565 and ask to speak to one of the Nurses regarding this issue.
- COVID 19: Covid-19 vaccinations are not currently required, but UAMS must report percentage of staff and students vaccinated. If you have received COVID vaccination, upload documentation of doses received. If you have not been vaccinated for COVID, upload a statement with your name and date of birth stating that you have not been vaccinated for COVID.
- Health Insurance — All students admitted to a College of Nursing degree or certificate program are required to have major medical health insurance coverage at all times that meet minimum standards as designated by UAMS. For health insurance information, please refer to the information on the UAMS Campus Life and Student Support Services website.
- Background Check and Drug Screening — All College of Nursing applicants who are offered admission to a program must complete a background check and drug screening. Background checks and drug screenings are meant to ensure the safety and compliance of all College of Nursing students with various clinical sites.
