The Doctorate of Philosophy in Nursing (Ph.D.) program was implemented in 1997, with the first class graduating in May 2000. Graduates of the doctoral program are prepared to advance the art and science of nursing through research and scholarship. They are expected to assume leadership positions in academic and health care settings, conduct research, and to influence nursing practice, health care delivery, and nursing social awareness.
Our program is known for its small classes and individualized attention. Students from across the state enroll in the program. Courses are offered in a blended format using face-to-face and Blackboard delivery. Both the MNSc–Ph.D. and BSN–Ph.D. programs consist of required coursework, electives, doctoral comprehensive examinations, and a dissertation.
