Advance your Career!

The MNSc curriculum is designed to prepare you for meaningful contributions to the art and science of nursing through rigorous research and scholarly inquiry. Through core coursework and thoughtfully selected electives, you will have the opportunity to shape your path, whether you aspire to become a nurse scientist, clinical scholar, administrator, or educator. Our goal is to help you discover your strengths, develop your voice as a scholar, and step confidently into a leadership role that advances health for individuals, families and communities.

About the Program

The MNSc-to-PhD program requires a minimum of 60 credits beyond the master’s degree, including both required and elective courses.  Additional electives can be taken to provide content or methodological expertise. Both the MNSc–PhD and BSN–PhD programs consist of required coursework, electives, doctoral comprehensive examinations, and a dissertation. A minimum of 16 credit hours of dissertation and 2 credit hours of dissertation seminar are required. We are frequently asked about opportunities for coursework on the Internet. Most of our doctoral courses are blended or web-enhanced so students may attend classes face to face monthly, with the remainder taught via Blackboard. Some courses are offered only through face-to-face contact.
