Natalie Dumont Selected For Nurse Leaders Program

Natalie

Natalie Dumont, a junior BSN student at the UAMS College of Nursing and research assistant to Dr. Pam Williams, Associate Professor in the College’s PhD program, has been selected to participate in the Arkansas Coalition Young Nurse Leaders Program. Natalie will work as an extern to Marlene Walden, Nurse Scientist Manager at Arkansas Children’s Hospital for three months beginning March 1st. Natalie was chosen for this inaugural Young Nurse Leaders Program from among many applicants throughout the state.

The program is made possible through the receipt of a grant funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to the Arkansas Action Coalition. This coalition promotes the achievement of the goals around the recommendations for nursing in the landmark Institute of Medicine’s report, The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health. The Arkansas Action Coalition is Arkansas’ grassroots nursing organization of the National Center to Champion Nursing in America.

Natalie received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. She is currently enrolled in the BSN program and plans on pursing a PhD in nursing to become a nurse scientist.

In addition to being selected to the Arkansas Coalition Young Nurse Leaders Program, Natalie’s student poster on “Content Validity Methods Applied to New Psychosocial Scale for Social Burden in Rare Genetic Conditions” was accepted by the Southern Nursing Research Society for its annual conference. Natalie will accompany Dr. Williams to the conference which is February 25-28 in Tampa.
