UAMS Chancellor’s Scholars Program
We’re thrilled to introduce the UAMS Chancellor’s Scholars Program. This is a groundbreaking initiative reflecting our commitment to academic excellence, service, and the future of health care in Arkansas. The application process for the UAMS Chancellor’s Scholars Program is separate from the process for applying to the College of Nursing scholarships.
Overview
The UAMS Chancellor’s Scholarship Program is a merit-based scholarship designed to:
- Recruit and retain exceptional nursing and advanced practice nursing students
- Strengthen Arkansas’s nursing workforce
- Encourage professional nursing practice within Arkansas after graduation
Scholarship funds are awarded as forgivable educational loans. These loans convert to full scholarships after the recipient completes qualifying post-training nursing service in Arkansas, as outlined in the Forgivable Loan Agreement and Promissory Note.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:
- Be admitted to the UAMS College of Nursing
- Be an Arkansas resident at the time of matriculation
- Undergraduate residency outside Arkansas is permitted
- Be selected on merit by the UAMS College of Nursing Scholarship Committee
- Execute the required Loan Agreement and Promissory Note before receiving funds
- Remain in good academic standing while enrolled
Annual Awards
- Scholarships are awarded annually
- Maximum award period: three academic years
- Maximum service obligation: three years
Disbursement
- Disbursement timing and application (tuition, fees, payee) are managed by UAMS
- Awards follow institutional practices and the Loan Agreement
