RN to BSN Application FAQs

I didn’t receive an email about my login information for GUS after paying my application fee.  What do I do?

Make sure to check your junk mail folder first.  If you email is not there, please email conadmissions@uams.edu and include your name and which for program you are applying.

When are your application deadlines?

  • Materials due – March 1 for summer admission (May start)
  • Materials due – June 1 for first fall session (August start)
  • Materials due – September 1 for second fall session (October start)
  • Materials due – November 1 for first spring session (January start)
  • Materials due – January 1 for second spring session (March start)

How do I check if my transcripts and/or other application materials have been received?

Once you have submitted the application fee for your online application, you will receive an email from UAMS for the GUS system.  It will include everything you need to login and see your TO DO checklist.  This checklist will list all materials we are still missing for your application.  All TO DO items are individual hyperlinks you will need to click on for more information.   IMPORTANT: Please give us at least 48-72 hours to process materials and update your checklist.  Depending on the volume of paperwork, it may take slightly longer.  NOTE about email for GUS: Please make sure to check your junk mail folder.  There are rare and specific instances where the email may not be sent.  After checking your email thoroughly and confirming you have not received an email, email conadmissions@uams.edu and explain that you have not received an email about GUS after submitting your application payment.

Do you accept electronic official transcripts?

UAMS can only accept electronic official transcripts from eScrip-Safe.  If sending an electronic official transcript to our office, please check to make sure your host institution sends through the eScrip-Safe network before ordering an electronic official transcript.

Do I have to have the health assessment course/certification completed before applying for the RN to BSN program?

No.  However, we do need a copy of your enrollment receipt if you are taking the Health Assessment certification course with UAMS.  You will have to complete the Health Assessment course within the first two (2) sessions of the RN-BSN program.  Therefore, if you have not completed the course by application deadline and you are accepted, your acceptance is conditional.  If you have taken the three-hour credit health assessment course at another accredited higher education institution, we would evaluate that when you turn in your official transcripts for application.  Please see the Health Assessment web page for more information.

Do you accept CLEP or AP completed courses for the required BSN prerequisites?

Yes, but the CLEP or AP credit has to be transferred and listed on a university/college transcript from a regionally accredited institution.

Courses listed as “exempted” will not be accepted for credit.  Please check our BSN Prerequisite By College page for approved course numbers.
