The goal of our project is to encourage nurses to achieve higher levels of education by implementing “pipeline” recruitment and support programs for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Associate Degree (AD) and diploma-prepared Registered Nurses (RNs) from Long-Term Care settings into baccalaureate and higher degree nursing programs throughout the state of Arkansas. This goal is supported by seven (7) objectives/activities:
- The Identification and Solicitation of LPNs and RNs in Long-Term Care Settings to Enter the Nursing “Educational Pipeline”.
- Collaboration with the Arkansas John A. Hartford Center for Geriatric Nursing Excellence in Providing Regional Information Sessions.
- An Individualized Preparation Program for Recruits into the Nursing Educational Pipeline.
- Marketing the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation PIN6 Program to Long-Term Care Employers and Owners.
- Tailored Student Incentive Programs.
- The Utilization of Technology and Social Communication Media, Chat Rooms, etc., for Educational-Program Success and Peer Support.
- An Individualized Mentoring and Advising Program.
