Susan Hassmiller, PhD, RN, FAAN
Susan B. Hassmiller, Senior Advisor for Nursing, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation; Member, Institute of Medicine; Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing; Member of the Joint Commission’s National Nurse AdvisoryCouncil, the Health Resources and Services Administration National Advisory Committee for Nurse Education and Practice, and the CMS National Nurse Steering Committee. In her role with the RWJF, she shapes and leads the Foundation’s strategies to address nurse and nurse faculty shortages in an effort to create a higher quality of patient care in the United States. She is also serving as Co-Director of the Future of Nursing Scholars program. Dr. Hassmiller is in partnership with AARP, and also directs the Foundation’s Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action, which seeks to increase access to high-quality, patient-centered care in a health care system where nurses contribute as essential partners in achieving success.

Marilyn Rantz, RN, PhD, FAAN, has developed and sustained a research program to improve quality of care of elderly. Her innovative work in nursing home quality spans nearly thirty years, in practice and as a leading researcher, and establishes her as a premier international expert in quality measurement in nursing homes. Dr. Rantz and her multidisciplinary research team has garnered more than $54 million in funds to support their work measuring effectiveness of nurse care coordination, conduct cutting edge research in long-term care, new delivery models of care, and for technology development to enhance aging in place of community-dwelling elders. In late 2012, she was elected into the highly-respected Institute of Medicine, and also became the only individual to be twice named as an Edge Runner for two different innovations, securing her second for her long-running Quality Improvement Program for MO (QIPMO) project.

Susan Reinhard, PhD, RN, FAAN
Senior Vice President & Director, AARP Public Policy Institute and Chief Strategist, Center to Champion Nursing in America
Dr. Reinhard is a nationally recognized expert in nursing and health policy, with extensive experience in translating research and developing coalitions to promote policy change. She is currently working with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation with the Future of Nursing Campaign for Action promoting the IOM Future of Nursing Report Recommendations and acting as a liason for the Arkansas State Action Coalition.

Dr. Sullivan-Marx brings her international leadership reputation and skills to the forefront for Penn nursing students. With a strong background as a primary care nurse practitioner, Dr. Sullivan-Marx teaches the foundation course on assessment, health promotion, and critical thinking at the undergraduate level – Promoting Healthy Lifestyles II.
