We are excited that you are visiting our UAMS Hartford Center of Geriatric Nursing Excellence (HCGNE) website. We have information about all our current educational, research and leadership programs and events.
Our UAMS College of Nursing HCGNE began in 2000 with funds from the John A. Hartford Foundation. The UAMS HCGNE focuses on recruiting new geriatric nurse faculty, advancing faculty development in geriatric nursing, and working with the National Hartford Center of Geriatric Nursing Excellence. The National Center provides universities and organizations with opportunities to join an established network of eight Hartford Centers in the U.S.
Meeting the health care needs of older Americans by a nursing workforce prepared in gerontology is a daunting task, but the timing for doing so has never been better. The older adult population is growing, At the UAMS College of Nursing, education, practice opportunities, and research is established to prepare the next generation of nurses to meet the needs of older adults.
Our website allows you to browse student awards, information about our geriatric leadership team, and faculty and events by the Center. You will also have the opportunity to link to other Hartford Centers and resources for geriatric nursing education. Please contact us if you need more information about the UAMS HCGNE.
