Are there any classes that I will need to take before I apply to your program?
A list of prerequisite course information can be found online on this website.  Testing out of some prerequisite courses at your local college may also be an option for you.

I have some college credits from several years ago, are they still valid?
Yes, acquired pre-requisite courses are valid from an accredited institution on submitted official transcripts.

What are the qualifications of the nursing faculty?
All nursing faculty are Registered nurses with advanced degrees in nursing and have clinical preparation in the subject area in which they teach.

How many classes do I take per semester for the RN to BSN program?
Part-time students typically take 3 hours.  Full-time students typically take 6 hours.

What should I do to apply to the Accelerated RN to BSN or RN to BSN/MNSc program?
First, you must be a licensed RN. Please review the Accelerated RN to BSN or Accelerated RN to BSN/MNSc program information and admission requirements on the website, we recommend you read the Accelerated RN to BSN or RN to BSN/MNSc page to familiarize yourself with the admission and prerequisite requirements. If you need your transcripts to be reviewed to make sure you have met all prerequisites, please email, mail, or upload unofficial transcripts to conadmissions@uams.edu.

What if I have met all prerequisite courses?
Applications are available on RN to BSN Process page.  Please make sure to read the IMPORTANT section and REMEMBER section. If you have specific questions about the admissions process, you can reach the Student Services Office at (501) 686-5224.

What are the deadlines to apply?
The online program admits students for Spring, Summer, and Fall, with the deadlines as follows:

RN-BSN Application Deadlines

  • Materials due – March 1 for summer admission (May start)
  • Materials due – June 1 for the fall session (August start)
  • Materials due – November 1 for spring session (January start)

Do online courses cost more than traditional courses?
No, there is no additional fee for online courses for the RN to BSN program. Tuition and fee cost information can be found here.

Are all classes online? When would I have to come to UAMS?
Yes, RN-BSN classes are online and do not require on-campus attendance. Some masters (MNSc) courses are hybrid which will require the student to have online and face-to-face courses.

Would my working hours count as my clinical time during the semesters?
Work hours cannot count as clinical practicum hours. The clinical practicum experience will be facilitated by the course faculty and preceptors.

After I finish the BSN component of the RN to BSN/MNSc program, am I automatically admitted into the master’s program?
No, interested students can submit an application in their last semester of the BSN program (***please review Master programs specialties and program application dates)  Admission to the Master of Nursing Science (MNSc) program is competitive and will be ranked by the GPA calculated from the last 60 hours of undergraduate coursework.
