PhD in Nursing
As the only program in the state of Arkansas preparing PhD in Nursing graduates, the program is meeting market demands by producing graduates qualified to teach, conduct research, and serve as leaders in nursing and health care. The graduates are placed quickly into Arkansas universities and health care settings, as well as locations in the US. Students entering this program have already completed a master’s degree in nursing.
The Doctorate of Philosophy in Nursing (PhD) program was implemented in 1997, with the first class graduating in May, 2000. Graduates of the doctoral program are prepared to advance the art and science of nursing through research and scholarship. They are expected to assume leadership positions in academic and health care settings, conduct research, and to influence nursing practice, health care delivery, and the social awareness of nursing’s contributions to the health care arena.
