The College of Nursing at the University of Arkansas for
Medical Sciences invites applications and nominations for the following
12-month faculty positions. Review of applications will continue until

FACULTY
Nursing Learning Resource Center Coordinator - available July 1, 2010
This person will assume responsibility for organizing and managing of
the physical environment of the Nursing Learning Resource Center (NLRC),
for maintaining all equipment, and for ordering and re-stocking
requested supplies for learning activities.
The Course Coordinator will collaborate with this person in planning the
scheduled laboratory learning activities. The NLRC Coordinator will
assist in the implementation of all the scheduled laboratory learning
activities as needed. This person will be responsible for assisting
faculty with students during additional practice times. The position may
require assistance in demonstration, teaching, and evaluation of NLRC
learning activities and close collaboration with the course faculty and
coordinators in planning and implementation.
This position includes establishment and maintenance of inventory,
stocking, ordering, and cataloging supplies, and assuring set-ups for
all scheduled activities. The NLRC Coordinator will assist faculty in
the implementation of learning modules as well as obtain needed
equipment to be used for the learning activity. The NLRC Coordinator
will submit written/verbal summaries of learning activities to the
Course Coordinators and the appropriate Associate Dean. Lastly, the NLRC
Coordinator will supervise student workers and participate the hiring,
termination, evaluation, and time sheet evaluation.
Qualifications:
• BS in Nursing or higher degree preferable
• Practitioner preparation desirable; APN license preferable
• RN/APN licensure in Arkansas
• At least two years of successful practice
• CPR certification

PROFESSORSHIPS
Professorship in Geriatric Nursing
The Alice An-Loh Sun Professorship in Geriatric Nursing will provide
research funding, salary enhancement, professional support, and funding
for a geriatric nursing initiative. This position is a tenure track
faculty position.
Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in nursing and a doctoral degree in
nursing or related field
• Experience teaching at the graduate level
• History of extramural research funding in gerontology
College setting: The College of Nursing, a CCNE accredited
institution, provides baccalaureate, master’s, and PhD programs to over
500 students. The College has faculty practice programs in pediatrics,
primary care, women’s health, gerontology, and genetics. The faculty are
national and regional leaders and their achievements include presidents
of Sigma Theta Tau International, the Southern Nursing Research Society,
and the Southern Regional Education Board Council of Collegiate
Education in Nursing. The College has a Hartford Center of Geriatric
Nursing Excellence and a National Institute of Nursing Research Tailored
Biobehavioral Interventions Research Center. The College ranked 26th in
National Institutes of Health research funding in 2005. Research focus
areas include cardiovascular, sleep, gerontology, forensic nursing, and
cancer.
Located in Arkansas’s only academic health science center, with
world-class clinical facilities and the Colleges of Medicine, Pharmacy,
Public Health, and Health Related Professions, and a Graduate School,
the College of Nursing has partnerships with magnet clinical centers in
aging, cancer, neuroscience, high-risk maternity, and ophthalmology;

Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System; and seven regional Aging
