Externship Opportunity at the Hartford Center of Geriatric Nursing Excellence
Apply now for the 2017 Geriatric Nursing Student Summer Externship Program!
With the aging population growing so quickly, there is a great demand for nurses interested in geriatrics. This externship provides students with the opportunity to explore various types of practice settings such as research, education and leadership.
Applicants must be a junior level College of Nursing student in good standing who is interested in geriatric nursing as a possible career option.
The 8-week externship begins the first week of June 2017. The selected students will have the opportunity to work with nationally recognized geriatric nurse leaders, researchers, clinicians and educators and also obtain a broad view of the wonderful work being done by geriatric nurses in communities across the state. This program provides a stipend of up to $4,000 for the 8 weeks.

The student will work with advanced practice nurses at various UAMS clinical sites, attend workshops, UAMS Hospital, at nursing homes and visit other geriatric nursing sites. The student will also have an opportunity to work with nursing research faculty on their current grants.
