As the aging
population increases, there is a need for advance practice nursing expertise to
managing the health care needs of older adults. The UAMS Graduate School offers
a program for nurses who want to specialize in the care of older adults in the
advance practice role of a Gerontological Nurse Practitioner. Learning
opportunities include management of the health of older adults in various
clinical settings, such as primary care, home care, transitional care, and
long-term care. Courses are offered via classroom, Blackboard Learning System CE 4.1 (BBLS CE 4.1), and
telecommunications.
