Chi Eta Phi
Sorority, Inc. awards $50,000.00 annually in scholarships
because of its commitment to providing access to quality
educational training and financial assistance to nursing
students. Scholarship awards occur on the National, Regional and
Local Levels. The national scholarships include the Aliene
Carrington Ewell Scholarship and the Mabel Keaton Staupers
Scholarship.
The Aliene Carrington Ewell Scholarship was
established to honor our Founder and to assist deserving
undergraduate students pursuing a nursing degree. Scholarships
are administered based on financial need, scholastic ability,
interest in nursing and leadership potential.
The Mabel
Keaton Staupers National Scholarship Award was
established in recognition of the life long commitment made by
Soror Staupers to America's struggle for complete equality for
all people. As a result of her efforts and those of the National
Association of Colored Graduate Nurses, Health Organizations,
Clinics, Hospitals, Schools of Nursing and the Military Service,
doors were opened to the Black nurse that previously had been
closed. To be considered for this award, the individual must be
a current member of Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc. and the American
Nurses Association. The individual must have:
-
demonstrated
leadership
-
contributed to
the recruitment and retention of minorities into nursing
-
contributed to
the advancement of minority nurses in education and nursing
-
At the time of
nomination and receipt of the scholarship award, the
individual must be enrolled in a program of study leading to
the Baccalaureate, masters or Doctoral Degree in a
nationally accredited School of Nursing.
